Miss Spider Maniacs Home Blog

2017 has been a busy year for Maniacs United with 9 shows in total locating all the way down in Porirua to up North in Dargaville. We have seen the debut of many rookies including: Delilah, Vic Craig, Jack Rackham, Mr A, Evan Crowe and Tyler Chase. We have also crowned the first ever New Zealand Professional Wrestling Champion: James Shaw. Our first show was situated in Mangakino, a small town in the Taupo district, where we saw an impressive count out victory for the debuting Delilah against Just Plain Evil. Little did we know at the time this would spark a thrilling and competitive rivalry between the athletes. The main event: Paul Sayers and Brook Duncan def Rufguts and Chad Howard. Another debut for Maniacs with Brook Duncan competing for the first time in a Maniacs United ring also claiming a stellar victory over two of New Zealand’s most experienced wrestlers. Our next show was in March, up north in Dargaville, proceeds going towards the Gilligan Family who lost their home in a fire. An exciting show with a competitive matchup between Charlie Roberts and Graham Hughes for the Jackson Shield to end the night. In April we delivered 3 shows starting off in Porirua in conjunction with Paul Sayers. We saw a Maniacs United debut for many wrestlers this night including: Powerhouse T-rex and Shane Sinclair. We also saw Paul Sayers and Rufguts go to war in front of a rowdy crowd of 300! Then we finally wrestled in Auckland for the first time in 2017 at Open Fire. At Open fire we saw multiple qualifying matchups that lead to the main event: Taylor Adams defeating Delilah, John Henry and Eli Samuels. We finished April with a massive show in Maungaturoto with a stacked card! Some highlights would have to be the hometown hero Mr A def Just Plain Evil via Count out, Delilah submitting Rufguts and James Shaw defeating Brook Duncan, Graham Hughes and John Henry to crown the first ever New Zealand Professional Wrestling Champion. A couple weeks later we hosted our first student show of 2017 where we showcase our training school in Sandringham. That night we saw the debut of Vic Craig in a vicious matchup against Just Plain Evil. In the main event we saw our Jason Brody go up against Fake Dojo Trainee Mareko. We then took a two month hiatus coming back in July with another student show where we saw another debut for the 7 foot tall Jack Rackham and Shaw successfully defending with championship against rookie Dayton Rowe. We return to Dargaville for the second time in 2017 with some exciting action from Charlie Roberts, James Shaw, Kartik and more. We finish the year with another student show exhibiting some exciting matchups such as Jack Rackham v Jason Brody, Falcon Kid v James Shaw, Vic Craig v Tyler Chase and Just Plain Evil v Evan Crowe. As you can see it has been a very exciting 2017 for all of us at Maniacs United but there ain’t no rest for the wicked as we move on to an even more exciting 2018! See you there.
